The following alternative remedies have been used extensively in the past to help with common ailments. However, please consult a physician prior to using any homeopathic or herbal medication that you are unfamiliar with.

Arnica montana (6-30 C): great for traumatic injuries that leave a big bruise or "goose egg". It can also be given for sprains, broken bones, blood blisters, toothache, swollen joints.

Urtica (6-30C): helpful for skin that is itchy, whether from insect bites and stings, allergic reactions, or hives.

Histaminicum (6-30C): used when you want a natural anti-histamine, such as during allergy season for itchy watery eyes and nose, itchy skin from allergic reaction or eczema.

Cantharsis (6-30C): has been noted to help with sunburns, scalds, and blistering second degree burns.

Calendula (herbal remedy applied as an ointment): used as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent to treat wounds, skin abrasions, and infections. Do not apply it to a fresh burn or deep wound.

Rhus toxicodendron (6-30C): can be used for "pink-eye" and allergic conjunctivitis, as well as poison ivy, impetigo, hives that itch, sting, and intensify after they are scratched.

Nux vomica (6-30C): used for nausea, "stomach flu", colic and gas pains, vomiting and cramps from over-eating.

Pulsatilla (6-30C): great for coughs that have lots of mucus associated with it, middle ear infections, and sinusitis.

Ginger (herb/root): excellent for nausea.

Silica (6-30C): used for earache associated with decreased hearing and stopped up feeling, and swollen glands in the neck.

Elderberry Syrup (herbal): excellent for coughs associated with common colds, sinusitis, and flu. Raw elderberry seeds are toxic and ripe berries should be eaten only after cooking. The roots, stems, and leaves may cause cyanide poisoning, therefore, you should not take preparations made from them. Only purchase elderberry syrup from reputable sources and do not attempt to make your own.

Cocculus (6-30C): car sickness, motion sickness, sea sickness.

Chamomilla (6-30C): teething pain.

Allium Cepa (6-30C): colds with sinus congestion, hay fever, coughs with associated sore throat, and earaches.
Use the 6C dilutional strength for symptoms that are less severe or less than 6 weeks in duration, the 30C strength for more severe or chronic symptoms.
